Maintain backgrounds without unnecessarily recreating shared point records. Rename changes the label; replacement keeps the background identity and placements.
You need editor access and the plan that supports this background type. Retained positions need checking if the replacement differs.
Rename a background
Select the background and open its pencil to rename it with Save name.
Replace image or GLB
To replace an image or GLB, use its replacement control and choose a compatible file.
Check placements
Check retained placements against the new image or model before publishing.
Delete a background
To remove a background, open its pencil, choose Delete background and read the confirmation.
Update linked actions
Check any point actions that linked to the removed background and choose another destination.
Expected Results
Rename changes the label. Replacement keeps the background identity and placements. Deletion removes that background and its draft placements while retaining point records and house packages.
Tips and Limits
Retained positions need checking if the replacement differs. Model points use normalized scene coordinates, not a persistent attachment to a mesh: preserve model orientation, proportions and bounds where possible. Saved surface normals remain until points move. Google plans use Replace PNG in Map settings. Removing a background keeps shared records.
Effect on Public Viewer
The current published background remains until you publish the replacement or removal, or disable the public viewer.
